Job Overview:
The Chief Sustainability Officer (CSustO) will be the strategic leader responsible for embedding sustainability into the organization’s core functions and initiatives, spanning Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI), Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategies, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, and Green ICT adoption. This role calls for a forward-thinking leader with the vision and expertise to position the organization as a trusted responsibility partner and innovator in sustainable technologies and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a sustainability strategy that aligns with organizational objectives and global standards.
- Champion the integration of RRI, ESG, CSR, and Green ICT principles across business units.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance, build partnerships, and influence sustainability policies.
- Oversee research initiatives to ensure they align with societal values, ethical practices, and innovation.
- Promote sustainable innovation in products, services, and processes to address environmental and social challenges.
- Design and manage ESG frameworks, ensuring transparency in sustainability reporting.
- Drive initiatives to reduce carbon footprint, enhance resource efficiency, and promote equitable governance.
- Lead impactful CSR programs addressing community and societal needs while aligning with the organization’s mission.
- Establish partnerships with NGOs, government agencies, and industry stakeholders to amplify CSR efforts.
- Implement Green ICT strategies to reduce energy consumption, promote e-waste recycling, and leverage sustainable technologies.
- Drive the adoption of cloud computing, IoT, and AI solutions that are environmentally responsible.
- Analyze and report sustainability metrics, providing actionable insights to leadership and stakeholders.
- Foster a culture of sustainability through internal training, awareness campaigns, and stakeholder engagement.
Technical Skills:
- Sustainability Reporting Frameworks Proficiency in GRI, SASB, TCFD, and SDG alignment.
- Understanding of energy-efficient technologies, renewable energy integration, and ICT lifecycle management.
- Ability to analyze ESG metrics and generate actionable insights using tools like Tableau or Power BI.
- Familiarity with global sustainability standards (ISO 14001, ISO 26000).
- Expertise in managing sustainability initiatives and aligning them with business goals.
Functional Expertise:
- Extensive knowledge of sustainability laws, policies, and best practices.
- Proven track record in integrating sustainability into corporate strategies.
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder relationships.
- Strong advocacy skills to promote sustainability internally and externally.
- Ability to identify and mitigate environmental and social risks.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, or related fields. Certifications like GRI or ESG Practitioner are preferred.
- 10+ years in sustainability leadership, with expertise in RRI, ESG, CSR, or Green ICT.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, leadership, and analytical skills.
